The municipality of Paterson would like to work on increasing their public engagement. To do this, it is important to take into consideration how people of the Paterson community are receiving their information, whether it be through physical mail, online newsletters, social media, or text/email alerts, and likewise to consider how they would prefer they receive their information. That is, what is the most ideal way in which the people of Paterson are receiving their community information? In order to answer this question, it is necessary to first do an inventory on the different ways in which community information and news is sent out to the public. Then, implementing a survey for the people of the community to answer how they receive their information, as well as how they would prefer to receive their information, will be substantial in understanding how to improve communication between the municipality and community. The next step would be to analyze the findings of that survey once results come in by using statistical analysis of responses to answer what the most preferred way of staying informed is among the various outlets news-spreading is made possible through. These findings will be both important and relevant in making sure that public engagement is satisfactory through doing so in a way that is ideal for all citizens with differing interests, access, and limitations. An increase in public engagement in the municipality of Paterson will surely be reached once survey results are analyzed, and preferences on how residents would like to receive community information is established.
