Jangleland: Construct Proliferation in Workplace Psychological Constructs

We examined the possibility of construct proliferation within workplace psychological constructs. Findings from four substantive-validity analyses (SVA) indicate a consistent inability to distinguish the intended construct for most of the items and suggest clusters of overlapping measures. A fifth study was conducted to triangulate the results through factor analysis, in which the presence of the construct proliferation from the prior studies was further supported. Future studies are suggested to replicate these findings, and the concurrent development of a new suite of measures is suggested.
