Abstract
This paper is devoted to the imaging study the wake structure in flow past finite cylinders. Experiments were performed in a water tunnel using with a particle suspended in the center of the test section on a wire. The speed of flow is used to vary the Reynolds number in the problem which ranges from 100 < Re < 1500. The hydrogen bubble flow visualization technique is used to examine the vortex structure and these are analyzed by image analysis techniques. Using image analysis techniques, we analyze the dimensional changes in the primary vortex with respect to aspect ratio and Re and use this as a basis to track critical changes in the wake structure.
