Abstract
We wish to report 4-[(Bis(pyridin-2-ylmethyl)amino)methyl]-7-methoxychromen-2-one, 1, as a fluorescent photoinduced electron transfer cation sensor that is capable of indicating the presence of Zn2+, Cd2+ and Pb2+ ions via a fluorescence signal. The log binding constants, β, for these metal ions have been measured, and were found to be 6.10 ± 0.4, 6.37 ± 0.3, and 5.67 ± 0.3, respectively.{A figure is presented}.
