The mission of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Montclair State University is to provide academically rigorous and relevant programs of study that contribute to the development of an informed and engaged civil society. The College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) combines a traditional liberal arts education with focused preparation in a wide range of disciplines and professional areas. With more than 20 majors, nearly 50 minors and numerous areas of graduate study and professional certificate programs, we offer students the opportunity to begin a lifetime of learning in the humanities and social sciences while preparing for a successful career.
