Description
This image was published in 1972 in a special section on the 50th Anniversary of Paramus. The caption reads: "This 1908 photograph shows the enrollment of the Midland Avenue School at that time. Standing at the top of the steps are the left is Lydia Bennett, the teacher. The black children were primarily members of the Stewart and Watkins families that lived in the general; area of Dunkerhook Road. The school later served at the first borough hall."
