Nigeria is the largest and most urbanized country in Africa. This article discusses how Nigerian planners and geographers see three policy areas central to urban development: planning; housing; and land policy. Major themes which emerge from this survey are the need to control urban development and the importance of appropriate tools to be available for that purpose. -from Author
