Abstract
Embodied: Horton and Graham Through a Contemporary Lens is a 42-minute solo that explores the act of becoming in performance, using Horton, Graham, contemporary dance, and live-media as its primary tools. Composed of six sections—Intro / Horton, Graham: What’s the Difference?, Raincoat, Four of Me, Vortex, Duet, and The Sun—Embodied investigates becoming as a method for creating dance works. Embodied is also an inquiry into world-building, as each section illustrates a distinct tone, atmosphere, and underlying intention to inspire feeling within myself as the performer first, and then the audience.
