Thinking Stories 2: Philosophical Inquiry for Children
Abstract
I'm still thinking about my question. 'Mum, why do people have babies?'
Mum stops rocking and just stares at me. I'm beginning to think she doesn't understand my words when she says, 'Jesse, what a funny question.'
'I don't think it's funny, Mum. Or silly.'
Mum starts rocking again. 'Maybe people have children because they want to make their love last.'
'There are lots of children who could use that love,' I say. 'Like the children who live on the streets.'
