    The Eleventh Hour was a program produced by the public television station WNET/Thirteen in New York City. Episode 112, “Does Philosophy Matter?” aired in January, 1989. In the first half of this episode, host Robert Lipsyte interviews Matthew Lipman about philosophy for children. The segment includes a six-minute video of Dr. Catherine C. McCall facilitating a philosophical dialogue with first-grade students at the Tuscan Elementary School in Maplewood, New Jersey. During the second half of the episode, on philosophy and medical ethics, Dr. Eric Cassell responds to the Tuscan School video. The IAPC has acquired the rights to share this video, which has not been seen since it aired in 1989.

    1983 Pixie: An Introduction to Philosophy for Children

    In this special Educational Presentation, Barbara Johnson Low interviews Dr. David E. Harris, Social Studies Education Director for the school districts of Oakland County, Michigan, and American history teacher at James Madison Memorial High School in Madison, Wisconsin about Philosophy for Children and the new curriculum title Pixie (1981) by Matthew Lipman. Harris comments on filmed segments of a philosophical dialogue using Pixie with students of the Oak Park Gifted and Talented Program facilitated by teacher Kathryn Wolak. Wolak and Harris were trained in Philosophy for Children at the Institute for the Advancement of Philosophy for Children in 1982. Harris later became a professor of teacher education at the University of Michigan.

    IAPC co-founder Matthew Lipman appeared on the television show Good Morning America (ABC Television) on Wednesday, November 16, 1983. Lipman was interviewed by host David Hartman and the segment includes a new report about philosophy for children by journalist Steve Fox, which shows part of a philosophy session conducted by Ruben Kaplan in his class at Public School 199 in Queens, New York City. The report also shows IAPC Fellow Mark Weinstein conducting a workshop for teachers. The segment runs 7:34 minutes and is shared here by license from American Broadcasting Companies, Inc.
