In this special Educational Presentation, Barbara Johnson Low interviews Dr. David E. Harris, Social Studies Education Director for the school districts of Oakland County, Michigan, and American history teacher at James Madison Memorial High School in Madison, Wisconsin about Philosophy for Children and the new curriculum title Pixie (1981) by Matthew Lipman. Harris comments on filmed segments of a philosophical dialogue using Pixie with students of the Oak Park Gifted and Talented Program facilitated by teacher Kathryn Wolak. Wolak and Harris were trained in Philosophy for Children at the Institute for the Advancement of Philosophy for Children in 1982. Harris later became a professor of teacher education at the University of Michigan.
