Religion has long served as a resource for resistance movements confronting racism, xenophobia, and sex and gender-based discrimination and marginalization. Across traditions and contexts, religious practices and communities have offered language, ideas, and motivations to challenge systems of oppression. Our panelists will consider how religion continues to inform the struggle for justice in an urgent historical moment in the United States.

Rev. Dr. Nikia Robert is an internationally recognized womanist scholar reimagining justice beyond mass punishment, Black motherhood, and abolition through interdisciplinary lenses. She is an Assistant Professor at the University of Kansas and the founder of the national faith-based coalition, Abolitionist Sanctuary.

Rev. Archange Antoine is a faith leader, strategist, and organizer working at the intersection fo religion, justice, and political transformation. He serves as President and CEO of Savviors, a forward-thinking international strategy firm that supports organizations, leaders, and movements in building power, strengthening narratives, and advancing social change.

Dr. Nixon Cleophat is Associate Professor of Religion and Society, and coordinator of the Africana Studies program at Bloomfield College of Montclair State University. His teaching and research explores the intersections of religion and race, culture, gender, ecology, and social justice within Africana and global contexts.
