Abstract
Cellular models of exercising skeletal muscle cells become popular in exercise science. The skeletal muscle is attached by the tendons to the skeleton and it is a highly adaptable tissue. The skeletal muscle is responsible for functions such as the whole body metabolism, maintaining the position of the bones and energy homeostasis. It also involved locomotion by voluntary contraction. The research done around muscle and fat has been focused on diabetes and insulin resistance with minor attention to other aspects such as the muscle function regarding growth and contractile properties. There is research that suggest there is a link between the skeletal muscle dysfunction and obesity but many questions still remain. The existing models are hormones are available cell culture form ATCC.
