Abstract
What are gender differences in STEM? The gender differences in STEM education and STEM careers are well-documented. This study explores to role of internships in increasing diversity in STEM. Through an NSF-funded, 5- year study, we explore the differential role of internships for women.
Biography
Yasemin Besen-Cassino is a Professor of Sociology at Montclair State University. She received her M.A. and PhD in Sociology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. She is the editor of Contemporary Sociology, flagship journal of the American Sociological Association. Her research uses mixed methods to examine inequalities in the labor market, gender, STEM as well as issues of consumption.
