Abstract
This essay provides a guide for teaching Parts I and II of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s Romantic-era drama, Faust, to undergraduate students with no knowledge of German. Ways to make Faust accessible to this population are discussed, including best editions and translations; reading and writing assignments; audio-visual aids; and allegorical motifs such as the redemptive power of love, the Eternal Feminine, and dualities.
