Stereotypes and perceptions of Black and Latinx males is not always positive. Unfortunately, many men of color face negative educational outcomes as a result. This presentation introduces the role masculinities and intersectionality play in academic settings for Black and Latinx males. These identities inform matriculation, retention, and graduation rates. Often Black and Latinx male collegians shift between forms of masculine identities due to a lack of positive mentorship and guidance before and during matriculation in higher education.
