Abstract
A review of the origins, status and future of Behavior Analysis and behavioral applications in Chile is presented. The first systematic applications and training started at the end of the sixties when Sergio Yulis introduced Behavior Therapy in his psychotherapy courses. During the first years a variety of basic and applied studies were conducted. Durihg 1973 many faculty members had to abandon the country resulting in a slowing of the development of the behavioral approach. Today the approach is considered essential in the education and training of future psychologists and other health professionals, in spite of that, it not being the most favored by practitioners. Thus, the relevance of the behavioral approach is not as paramount as it was in the seventies.
