Description

Energy efficiency outreach programs are frequently not advertised well enough to low to moderate-income (LMI) residents because of poor communication. Direct promotion through community-based services and nonprofit organizations within the City of Orange community will raise awareness of energy assistance programs offered and help decrease the energy burden for low to moderate-income residents. Energy efficiency incentives are offered and aimed to help with bill payment resources along with programs that allow for upgrading of housing, removal of hazardous waste from the residence, and assessing the quality of equipment energy inputs and outputs. I plan to do a cluster sample study to see which (LMI) residents know about available programs and how effective they are and a GIS map showing where the most information was received. Community-based outreach methods encourage engagement with community organizations close to LMI residents to educate and encourage participation in NJCEP or utility incentive programs for energy efficiency in their facilities. This study will help answer some of these questions what organizations can make residents more aware of these programs, which will increase the number of programs being used?
