Description

This paper examines the health of everybody from the ancient Greco-Roman world ranging from poor farmers and slaves to middle-class merchants and wealthy aristocrats. It will describe the day of an average person from different classes and compare and contrast any similarities between the different social classes if any. This paper will also examine how and why the Greeks and Romans believed that it was important to take care of as a citizen of Greece or Rome. To answer this question we will look at different sources that explain what the average day-to-day life was like for the Greeks and Romans. To do that, we will look at many of the technological advancements that the Romans and Greeks made and perfected, such as baths, bathrooms, and aqueducts. We will also look at some ancient physicians from ancient Greek like Hippocrates and Galen for example. The results of this research should show how well the ancient Greeks and Romans were at taking care of themselves on a daily basis, using a variety of sources to try and support this study. This study should show the importance and need for a healthier lifestyle. Also, this study can also be used to show the advancements in technology that the ancient Greeks and Romans made to ensure a healthier life for the citizens with the creation of the baths, and aqueducts for example, and how they have been improved upon today.
